Partners in Missions and Ministry
Welcome to Polk-Haralson Baptist Association! The Polk-Haralson Baptist Association is a young association of churches with a long past. In 2000, The Polk-Haralson Baptist Association came into existence with 62 churches. However, these 62 churches had been cooperating for a number of years.
The Polk County Baptist Association and The Haralson County Baptist Association had been sharing an Associational Missionary and an Associational Office and staff for many years. They had been served by two long tenured Associational Missionaries Paul Jackson and Tom Stevenson.
God through several circumstances and the leadership of Tom Stevenson, who was then serving the two associations as an interim Associational Missionary led the two association to see that it would be more effective in mission and ministry endeavors to become one association.
A new Ministry Assistant, Cindy Wood was hired in 1999. In 2000, a new Associational Missionary, Dr. John McBride was called to serve the new association.
The Association exists to Equip Churches for Missions and Ministry, Extend a Helping Hand to the Community, and to Encourage Acts 1:8 Churches.
The Association equips Churches by providing its leadership with training and resources, by providing pastors fellowship and encouragment, and by being a resource when churches are looking for a pastor. The Association, also, owns Camp Antioch which churches can use for times of fellowship, spiritual renewal, or evangelistic events.
The Association extends a helping hand to the community by coordinating ministries that are to large for one church to do alone.
There is the Alziehmer's Closet, Jail Ministry, Disaster Relief Team, Polk Co. Food Pantry, and Polk Co. Children's Home.
The Association encourages churches to fulfil Acts 1:8-"You shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth" by facilitating mission trips, coordinating evangelistic efforts, and networking churches in order to plant new churches.
